Celebrate the Academy Awards by revisiting the climactic moment from 2019’s Best Picture winner. It’s the last stop on Don Shirley’s (Mahershala Ali) journey through the Deep South, and he and his bodyguard Frank Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) are in Birmingham, Alabama to perform at a country club. As the band eats dinner at the country club, Shirley attempts to join them, only to be told that the country club does not allow black people to eat at their club. He refuses to play for them unless he can eat in the country club dining room. Who will give in first? #GreenBook #Oscars #MahershalaAli

Synopsis:
Academy Award® nominee Viggo Mortensen and Academy Award® winner Mahershala Ali star in Green Book, a film inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class, and the 1962 Mason-Dixon line. When Tony Lip (Mortensen), a bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr. Donald Shirley (Ali), a world-class Black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on “The Green Book” to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African- Americans. Confronted with racism, danger as well as unexpected humanity and humor—they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.

  9. Some will read this and not believe that although this racism was not very long ago, in many places in America, this remains but it's unspoken.

  11. Do you know the story of Beethoven being told to eat in the kitchen? This snotty duchess invited him so that he would play for free all night, and when everybody adjourned to the table, there was no chair for him. They say he picked up a chair and threw it across the room. In those days class was everything and musicians were servants.
