Many people understand the concept of how this works. Unfortunately, many two way zippers don't zip up with as much ease as some of these videos describe. The biggest problem is the ease of misalignment of the upper and lower zippers when the wearer is wearing the jacket. I have a parka that I love but the zipper constantly drives me batty. I understand how it works, but you really need to spend time ensuring that both upper and lower zippers are perfectly aligned – otherwise even if it looks like it, the zip will get stuck on the upper zipper and now you are having to pull it apart and try again. The key is to get it align properly so when zipped you feel that click. However, for at least two brand new parkas/coats I have had, it is the same problem of both zippers being very difficult to align when I am wearing the coat. When it is on a bed flat, it is easy to do.

My partner complained that the zip on the new jacket was faulty. Spent 5 minutes looking at jackets to find that it was two-way zip. Then used YouTube to find this video and how to use it. YouTube is great.

I've owned my parka for over a year now and didn't realize I even had a 2nd on that side…lol…now I feel dumb. finally got curious if I was doing something wrong…yay now I can finally wear this parka I love.
I can’t get mine unzipped again, like I can’t open the jacket where the zipper isn’t connected to the other side
Just one more thing to aggravate. As an oldster I have great difficulty lining up the two zips, especially on a longer coat. The benefits of this idea are outweighed by the drawbacks. I would buy coats with one zip only but these are getting harder and harder to find. It shows how bad an idea they are when you have to find a tutorial to work out how to zip up a jacket.

Oiling the slider just a little bit helped, as the zipper wouldn't go down all the way through in the beginning.

How do I unzip it fully
I literally just almost returned the jacket bc I thought the zipper was broken. I'm an engineer for God's sake! I didn't realize it was SUPPOSED to do that… (come open when I leaned over).
I hate 2 zippers it's so difficult to put the zip in and take it out, it's a real pain. I have left my coat open once I was soo frustrated.

Unlike most here it seems, I've had zero issues understanding how and what, however I thought there might be more uses for such a zipper than simply being able to open it up from the bottom.

Two-way zippers serve little to no useful purpose and more often than not create problems with zipper alignment and zipper guide issues. Most of the time the manufacturers use very poor material and design in the guided side of the zipper ( the left hand side ), which becomes damaged or frayed very quickly. They also cheap out on the pull or receiver side of the zipper, causing poor alignment situations resulting in the aforementioned damage and fraying and misalignment of the zipper teeth. For as long as we have incorporated zippers into our clothing, you would think this would be a mastered technique by now, but all manufacturers know that since few people will seek out someone to replace a zipper when it fails, that means more clothing sales, which means you buy their items over and over again. Two-way zippers were largely sold to us as a way convenient way to access our pockets without have to completely open or remove our coats and to also make sitting down easier, especially in a vehicle. Personally I have never used the bottom zipper to access a pocket nor have I ever open the bottom of my coat to sit down. If you need to open the bottom of you coat for venting purposes, then you probably wore the wrong coat or too much clothing to begin with.
