  1. Looks like a nice boot! Had a pair of LL Bean boots 15 or 20 years ago, they were very good. Never got, a mother pair. I'm in the market for a pair, now. Thanks for bringing these, to my attention! Have a save, happy, & prosperous new year!

  2. thanks

is it true the insole is now of lesser quality and requires change out shortly after purchase???

  3. Great vid and review. It may seem funny but I found my most comfortable boots by accident since I was just buying them to have a regular pair of boots to wear when I'm out…They are the Polo boots lol. They are nicely cushioned and feel like I'm wearing tennis shoes and I got the zipper ones so no need to tie my shoes. I realized just how comfortable they were after I had to wear them for work this one time and they were way more comfortable than my work boots. They're leather too so they're easy to keep clean. I'll look into these boots too for when I'm due for a new pair of boots

  4. Im thinking of buying the crestas. Im a 9 1/2 wide size feet. I have never owned an ll bean shoe. What would you recommend as far as sizing? Since you made this video, how are the shoes? Are they hot in the summer and whick sweat away? Any information would be appreciated. I just saw a coupon for 25% off on their website. Please let me know. Thanks

  5. You should get the 30th anniversary goretex crests hikers. They look super nice

  6. Great review, and I will not fault you for not pointing out that the toe is unprotected and will get chewed up with moderate hiking in uneven terrain. No fear, just treat with a liquid rubber compound on the toes. Cheers.

  7. One of the best insoles for boots is Thorogood USA made black/yellow ones, they are used in many of their American Heritage boots costing hundreds. Check them out, comfortable but not too cushy.

  8. Try loc tight super glue on the seam . works good.

  9. I've just bought a pair of the Cresta boots based on your review. I've previously worn Meindl boots which are great boots and I've been very happy with them. I went into an LL Bean store to try a pair of the Crestas on a few days ago and as soon as I put them on my feet I knew I had to buy them. The break in is quick and easy and are possibly the most comfortable pair of hiking boots I've ever worn. They fit like a glove and are a joy to wear. They have easy access – extremely easy to put on and get off – just stepping in and stepping out of them. They tie up easily nd lock the foot in place without being over tight on the foot. I'm really looking forward to some spring and summer hiking in my Crestas. Thanks for the review and recommendation – I think they're going to be worth every cent of the cost price.

  10. The best boots are LEATHER lined and made in Italy.

  11. Getting ready to buy the Cresta boot when I found your review. Loved it. Thank you! But the reason why I'm writing is your choice of food. That Campbell's canned soup will kill ya'. Please apply your appreciation for quality to nutrition. Good nutrition is the KEY to good health. Exercise is merely a bonus. You're worth it.

  12. I have a pair. Bought in 2012 and still going strong. I’m not on the trails every weekend though. I take good care of them with regular waxing applications.
I wanted something classic looking (opposite of most modern trekking boots which are quite ugly IMO). Not only do they look great, they feel and perform superbly.

  13. Great review. You just made ll bean some money👍

L.L. Bean is the best. I have been using there stuff for 55 years. I’ve owned a pair of Cresta hiking boots for 25 years. I use them only for hunting, fly fishing, and occasional camping trip. After each use I clean them and apply a quality leather treatment. Most comfortable footwear I have ever owned or tried on. I can see with your everyday use you may need a new pair more frequently than I have. 5 years ago I called L.L. Bean thinking I should probably treat myself to a new pair. After some discussion and sharing a photo of my boots the Bean folks advised me keep on with my current pair — they talked me out buying a new pair! Now that is real customer service. Like you I did install a more supportive insole. When these do wear out I would not hesitate to purchase another pair.

  15. Just snagged a pair off ebay for 50! Only worn once and just need a polishing the guy said. Can't wait to finally try them. I was going to get a pair of asolo hiking boots but too many people said the soles start to fall off rather quickly. Before a year a lot said so I decided to go with something longer lasting although more rugged and will take longer to break in. Been wanting a pair of hiking boots like these foever so it's about time. I just keep hearing great things. I wanted bean boots also and I do have a pair but they're going back. It's like my 3rd pair trying to get the right fit. They just don't fit me comfortably.
